Samsung Galaxy S III vs Apple’s iPhone 5: A speculative comparison

Samsung have kept us waiting for six long months before announcing the launch of Galaxy S II. This time Samsung says it will launch Galaxy S III after the MWC 2012 event in Barcelona.

The similar was the incident with iPhone 4! It too had a delayed launch and now we are waiting for the launch of the iPhone 5. So what is the place does these two phones hold in the ever competitive smartphone market? Let’s have a look.

iPhone 5 VS Samsung Galaxy S III:

Let us start with iPhone 5. It may sport a quad-core processor same as the newly launched iPad 3. But the chipset is expected to be the same. It may sport a 12 MP rear camera from Sony. A touchscreen of 4.8-inches will be more than enough. With LTE enabled this phone might also bring iOS 6.0 to the world.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S III will also have a quad-core processor and it might be the same Exynos processor with same 4.8 inches of touchscreen as the iPhone 5. With a processing power of 1.5 GHz, this will make for a powerful mobile phone. Operating System would have to be the Android 4.0 Ice Cream
Sandwich. It might also have an 8 MP rear camera, with 2 MP front facing camera for video chats. It might be a 4G and LTE capable phone as well. It may also introduce a new TouchWiz to the world.

So on paper the two phones look like they are evenly matched. It may all come down to the marketing strategy both the companies adopt at the end of the day, where Apple has a distinct edge over Samsung and owing to that iPhone 5 might just steal the march over S III.
